Teen StudenS

Hello, there. I am Elizabeth Patterson.  I would like to welcome you to my page where you will find topics about teenagers. I have lived, I believe majority of my years raising children… 3 wonderful children. This does not mean though that I have not gone through some rough patches and periods of bewilderment. You would think that after their terrible twos and threes stages, you will be given a rest from parental ambiguity. Our children after all did not come with instruction manuals. And when they reach their teenage years, there seems to be trouble brewing every now and then. You just want to get them back into being tiny tots so everything would be easier to manage. The thing is you cannot stop them from growing up. I do not have perfect children and all the more, I cannot claim to be an expert mother. But now that all my 3 loves are off to college (the eldest is actually pursuing her master’s degree in chemical engineering), I can say my ideas can come across with weight. I am no expert in Psychology but I believe I pulled it off quite well so far.

What We Can Share Together

I hope we can share thoughts to answer or at least shed some light on some pretty common questions in our heads as parents of teenagers:

  • What is going on in their heads? We sometimes do not understand why they decide the way they do.
  • How am I supposed to explain “this” to him? They can be very reactive and we just want to know how we can come across without intimidating them.
  • What would make them “happy”? There can be a very broad exploration when it comes to this area. Nonetheless, it pays to take particular emphasis on this as what may be alright to them would not be as safe or healthy for them.
  • Why does she think she knows everything? She won’t listen and it gets you frustrated. Let’s cook up some strategies to make them listen.
  • How do I talk about sensitive issues as sex, religion, politics etc? If you are not one of the very few fortunate ones who can talk with your teenager about anything under the sun, let us provide you with some tips.

And a lot more topics will be share with you in the hopes of guiding and enlightening parents like myself.

So, there… I hope that you will be a frequent visitor. I only wish you the best in your journey. One last note, take it easy. You are doing fine.

Elizabeth
